Maryland questions.
Straight answers about plans and permits in Maryland. Don't see yours? Request a consultation.
Do I need a permit for a deck in Maryland?
In most Maryland counties, yes, especially for decks attached to the house or raised off the ground. The county usually wants a deck plan with footing, framing, ledger and guardrail details. We prepare those drawings and confirm your county's rules.
Who issues building permits in Montgomery County?
Most building permits in Montgomery County are issued by the Department of Permitting Services (DPS). A few cities, such as Rockville and Gaithersburg, have their own permit offices. We check which office reviews your address.
Who issues building permits in Prince George's County?
Building permits in Prince George's County are handled by the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE). We prepare drawings formatted for its review.
Can you draw plans for a basement apartment or ADU?
Yes, where zoning allows it. We check the county's accessory dwelling rules first, then draw the layout, egress, fire separation and MEP plans the review requires.
The county rejected my plans. Can you fix them?
Yes. Send us the drawings and the review comments. We revise the set, answer each comment in writing and prepare it for resubmittal.
How do I start?
Request a consultation and attach any photos, surveys or old drawings. We'll contact you to talk through the project and send a written quote.
